Brazilian municipal preschools use sport and planting to teach early learners

In Várzea Grande, the Centro Municipal de Educação Infantil (CMEI) Antônio Norberto organized a series of Copa‑themed activities on 12 June for 94 children aged two to three. The initiative, part of the municipal "Copa da Aprendizagem" project, included decorations, games, face painting and teamwork exercises designed to develop cognitive, motor and social skills while promoting values such as respect, cooperation and inclusion.

In Manaus, the municipal Creche Almirante Victorio José Barbosa de Lomba conducted a tree‑planting event on 15 June. Children, together with parents and community members, planted seedlings around the school, learning about environmental responsibility, sustainability and the importance of caring for nature. Both programs illustrate how local education authorities are using sport and environmental projects to enrich early childhood learning.
