Brazilian municipal schools implement environmental upcycling projects
Municipal schools in Brazil are implementing environmental education initiatives through creative upcycling projects.
In Várzea Grande, students at EMEB Ary Leite de Campos participated in an arts workshop where they transformed discarded roof tiles into artistic pieces inspired by Brazilian folklore. The project, part of the 'Escola em Tempo Ampliado' program, taught students the practical importance of material reuse and environmental preservation by having them clean, prepare, and paint the tiles as art supports.
In Palmital, the 'Palmital Sustentável' project encouraged elementary students to turn recyclable materials into creative toys. This initiative by the Department of Education aimed to foster environmental responsibility and sustainability from an early age. The program concluded with a cultural contest, where winning classes were awarded a trip to the Bauru Zoo to further their educational experiences.
