Brazilian municipalities advance solid waste management projects

In Augustinópolis, the local government has signed a Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TAC) with the National Health Foundation (Funasa) to resume the implementation of a municipal landfill. The agreement, formalized at the City Council, establishes a 24-month timeline to meet the necessary conditions for the facility to begin operations. The project aims to provide an adequate structure for solid waste disposal to mitigate environmental impacts and protect public health.

In Óbidos, authorities have completed the basic project and Environmental Impact Study (EIA) for a new Solid Waste Treatment Center (CTR). The facility is planned for a 50-hectare site in the Tiradentes community and is expected to receive over R$ 22 million in funding through the Novo PAC program. This initiative follows a multi-year planning process involving waste composition studies and the restructuring of the Municipal Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan.
