Sorocaba hosts amateur football championships and school games

Sorocaba is hosting several stages of its municipal amateur football championships. The Taça Palácio dos Tropeiros 2026, the second division of the Municipal Varzeano Football Championship, begins its round of 16 this Sunday (23). The first leg of these eight matches will take place across various sports venues in the city starting at 9:00 AM, with return matches scheduled for the following Sunday (30). The competition features 20 teams, with the top performers advancing toward the first division in 2027.

Additionally, the Supercampeonato Veterano 2026 is holding its fifth round this Saturday (22). Organized by the Secretariat of Sport and Quality of Life (Sequav), the tournament involves 40 clubs divided into eight groups. Matches are scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM at different local fields. Depending on group standings, clubs will compete for the Gold, Silver, or Bronze Cups.

Furthermore, the Jogos Escolares de Sorocaba (JES 2026) will continue its schedule from August 24 to 28. The competition includes various age categories and sports modalities, involving 50 municipal, state, and private schools to promote social integration and health through athletics.
