Brazilian municipalities appoint new environment secretaries

The city of Vitória da Conquista announced that journalist and lawyer Diêgo Gomes Rocha has been appointed secretary of the Municipal Environment Department. Rocha, a long‑time municipal employee with experience in several secretarial roles, will lead the preparation of a municipal climate‑adaptation plan and urban arborisation projects.

In Pato Branco, the municipal government named Antonio Cezar Soares as the new environment secretary after a year‑and‑seven‑month tenure by Vicente Michaliszyn. Soares, who previously directed the department and served as municipal agriculture secretary, pledged to continue ongoing waste‑management, public‑space preservation and environmental projects.

Both appointments aim to maintain and expand municipal environmental programmes, emphasizing technical expertise and continuity in public service.
