Brazilian municipalities boost prenatal and diagnostic imaging services

The Regional Specialized Maternal‑Infant Care Center in Porto Velho (Creami) has installed a modern ultrasound machine, allowing high‑risk pregnant women to receive exams and consultations in the same facility. Officials say the equipment speeds diagnosis, reduces travel and improves care for mothers and babies. Mayor Léo Moraes highlighted the investment as a step toward more humane health services.

In Itaguaí, the city opened a new Imaging Center that consolidates a range of digital examinations under the public health system (SUS). The center offers obstetric and vascular ultrasounds, digital X‑ray, mammography, bone densitometry, ECG, EEG and other tests, aiming to shorten waiting times and lower the need for patients to travel to other municipalities. Mayor Haroldo Jesus presented the centre as a priority of his administration to expand health access for residents.
