Brazilian municipalities brace for up to R$34.5 billion in costs as 6×1 work schedule ends

In the state of Maranhão, the Tribunal de Contas do Estado (TCE‑MA) has created a task‑force to conduct a "pente‑fino" on the use of parliamentary amendments transferred via PIX (known as “emendas PIX”). The initiative, launched during an election year, aims to verify that municipal transparency portals disclose full details of how these funds are allocated and spent, responding to recent Supreme Court directives for greater traceability of public resources.
