Brazilian municipalities celebrate environmental education with week-long programs and school competition
In Estação, the municipal Environment Department marked World Environment Day with a two‑day “Semana do Meio Ambiente”. Activities on June 2 and 3 included a recycling workshop by Coopercicla, distribution of native seedlings for urban reforestation, and a series of talks on environmental enforcement, animal welfare and sustainable waste management delivered by officials such as Camila Severiano, veterinarian Ronise Stella Giaretta and director Carla Carvalho.
Meanwhile, in Londrina, the ExpoAmbiental 2026 event hosted a school sustainability contest. Three municipal schools – Nina Gardemann, Maria Tereza Meleiro Amâncio and Roberto Alves Lima Junior – secured the top three positions in the Concurso Escola Sustentável. Organized by Lions Clube Londrina and supported by local universities, Embrapa and municipal agencies, the competition highlighted student projects on recycling, waste reduction, seedling planting and community engagement.
