Brazilian municipalities expand public job hires beyond advertised vacancies

The municipality of Moiporá in Goiás published the preliminary answer keys for its public contest, which offers 38 immediate positions and an additional 118 reserve slots across a range of elementary, technical, and professional roles. Salaries for the new posts range from R$1,621 to R$4,935, and the contest was organized by INEP Brasil.

In Mossoró, Rio Grande do Norte, the city hall has already called 1,098 approved candidates, surpassing the 522 immediate vacancies originally advertised by 576 positions. The education sector alone saw 344 hires against an initial 112 slots, while health recruited 627 of the 328 vacancies. Additional overruns occurred in social assistance, the municipal prosecutor's office, and the finance department.

Both municipalities are extending their public‑service workforces well beyond the numbers set out in the original contest notices, reflecting a broader trend of expanding municipal hiring in Brazil.
