Brazilian municipalities hold health and safety seminars in Barbacena and Teresópolis

In Barbacena, Minas Gerais, the Regional Health Superintendence's Sanitary Surveillance Unit organized a seminar on the VISA‑CIS program, a state‑run initiative that supports municipal health surveillance through public health consortia. The event outlined the work plan for the program’s second cycle (2026‑2027), emphasizing regional coordination, technical support for small municipalities and the shared responsibilities of the state, consortia and local governments.

In Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro, the Municipal Secretariat of Women's Rights partnered with the education and health secretariats to hold a full‑day training on identifying, protecting and referring cases of sexual abuse and domestic violence involving children, adolescents and women. School coordinators and directors attended the session, which aimed to improve the municipal protection network’s ability to recognize signs of violence, provide appropriate care and direct victims to the relevant authorities.
