Brazilian municipalities honor local educator and security officer

Municipal chambers in Brazil held ceremonies to honor local professionals for their contributions to society.

In Varginha, teacher Monique da Silva Ferreira received the Comenda do Mérito Educacional Municipal. The award recognizes her professional trajectory, particularly her work in early childhood education and her research into ethnic-racial relations and Abayomi dolls, which focuses on culture, identity, and ancestry.

In Congonhas, the municipal chamber held the second ceremony for the ‘Guarda Municipal Destaque do Ano 2026’ award. Paulo Henrique Silva Santana was honored for his service in public security. Santana has over two decades of experience, having served in the São Paulo Military Police before joining the Congonhas Municipal Civil Guard in 2009, where he previously held leadership roles including commander.
