Brazilian municipalities install new education safety commission and women's rights council

On July 31, the municipal Education Secretariat held a ceremony to install the new Internal Commission for Accident Prevention and Harassment (CIPA) for the 2026‑2027 term. The commission, created under Ministry of Labor Order No. 4.219, will focus on workplace safety and the fight against harassment in schools. Izadora Maleski Serrano, a school supervisor, was appointed president, and a mixed roster of appointed and elected representatives from across the municipal school network was confirmed.

Later, on the 5th of the month, the Municipal Secretariat for Women, Children and Adolescents in Piracuruca convened the swearing‑in of the new Municipal Council of Women's Rights. Secretary Silvania Timóteo and Mayor Marcelo Jatobá highlighted the council’s role in shaping policies that protect and promote women’s rights. The council includes representatives from civil‑society groups, the public prosecutor’s office, and various municipal departments.
