Sorriso and Aracaju unveil multi‑million tourism and community initiatives
Mayor Alei Fernandes of Sorriso formalized four partnership agreements worth more than R$2.4 million, directing funds to the 18th Zé Aragão Fishing Festival, a senior‑center van, animal‑rescue operations and a cultural band workshop. The Rotary Club of Sorriso will receive R$1.969 million to organize the fishing competition, while the other agreements allocate R$301,000 for a van serving elderly residents, R$200,000 for animal protection, and R$10,000 for a band‑workshop.
In Aracaju, Mayor Emília Corrêa signed a bill authorizing the transfer of two municipal sites covering about 3,991 m² to the state government for a tourism, gastronomic and cultural hub that will include a Ferris wheel. The project is pitched as a catalyst for economic growth, investment and job creation, and will be sent to the city council for approval.
