Distrito Federal Civil Defense alerts for storms and strong winds

The Civil Defense of the Distrito Federal has issued an alert for heavy rains and strong wind gusts across the capital and surrounding administrative regions, including Águas Claras, Ceilândia, and Sobradinho. Wind speeds are expected to range between 40 km/h and 60 km/h.

The alert, which covers the overnight period through Wednesday morning, comes as the Southern Hemisphere enters spring. According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), the Central-West region will experience increased cloud cover and atmospheric instability, potentially leading to isolated thunderstorms and hail.

Authorities advise residents to secure windows and doors, disconnect electrical appliances, and avoid parking vehicles near trees or transmission towers to prevent damage from falling objects or debris.
