Brazilian Municipalities Launch Free Sports and Dance Programs
The city of Atibaia, under Mayor Daniel Martini, will open registration on 3 August for free classes in a range of sports, including ballet, boxing, cycling, functional training, rhythmic gymnastics, handball, Muay Thai, rhythmic dance, volleyball and yoga. Classes are offered for all ages, with specific age groups and schedules listed for each activity, and participants must present a photo ID at the time of enrollment.
Guarulhos city hall is running a free "Dança Terapia – Ritmos, Memória e Movimento" project from 10 August to 3 December. The program provides dance‑therapy sessions twice a week at the Biblioteca Gracinda dos Anjos and the Teatro Padre Bento, open to anyone aged 12 years or older (minors must be accompanied). Each class is limited to 50 participants, and registration is required through the municipal cultural portal. The initiative aims to promote well‑being, combat sedentary lifestyles and stimulate memory through music from the 1970s to the 2000s.
