Brazilian municipalities launch inclusion programs for children with disabilities

Municipalities in Brazil are launching new initiatives to promote social inclusion for children with disabilities.

In Congonhas, the Secretariat of Sport and Leisure has opened registrations for the Inclusive Swimming Nucleus. Part of the 'Congonhas Mais Saudável' program, the initiative targets children aged 5 to 12 with neurodevelopmental conditions or physical disabilities. The program aims to foster emotional, physical, and social development, with the potential to prepare participants for regional or national para-sports competitions. Classes will be held at Parque Ecológico da Cachoeira on Fridays.

In Volta Redonda, the Municipal Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities is organizing 'Sábado Inclusivo' (Inclusive Saturday). The event features a special visit to the Municipal Zoological Park (Zoo-VR) for children with disabilities. The program includes recreational activities, such as games and chess, and provides free transportation for participating families to encourage social interaction and community respect.
