Brazilian municipalities implement tax amnesty and debt programs
Various Brazilian municipalities are implementing measures to manage municipal debts and urban maintenance.
In Marília, the ‘Zera Dívida 2026’ program offers debt regularization for taxes like IPTU and ISS, while a temporary reduction in ITBI rates is available until September 10. In Diadema, the ‘Legaliza Diadema’ initiative allows taxpayers to renegotiate debts with up to 100% discounts on fines and interest for certain installment plans. Similarly, Pindamonhangaba is offering an amnesty law with 100% interest and fine reductions until September 17.
Other cities are focusing on administrative services and urban order. Maringá has introduced WhatsApp-based debt installment services to increase accessibility. Mesquita has expanded its ‘Espaço Colabore’ to provide in-person support for active debt services. In São Luís, residents are reminded of the upcoming deadline for the third installment of the 2026 IPTU.
Regarding urban management, the city of João Monlevade has conducted routine removals of abandoned vehicles and scrap metal from public spaces in the Belmonte neighborhood to improve safety and mobility.
