Brazilian municipalities prepare cemeteries for All Souls' Day
Municipalities in Brazil are implementing cleaning and maintenance protocols in preparation for All Souls' Day on November 2.
In Curitiba, the Department of Special Services has set deadlines for tomb maintenance. Cleaning must be completed by October 31, while small repairs such as painting or resurfacing must be finished or paused by October 28 to ensure organization for the expected influx of up to 200,000 visitors.
In Videira, the local government is conducting infrastructure improvements, including paving internal paths and improving access at the Jardim da Saudade cemetery. Authorities are providing water for cleaning and advising residents to avoid leaving standing water in flower vases to prevent the spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
