Brazilian municipalities report positive employment growth in 2026

Several Brazilian municipalities are reporting positive trends in formal employment for 2026.

In Barra do Piraí, data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (Caged) shows a positive balance of 259 formal jobs during the first eight months of the year. Local officials attribute this growth to increased business confidence and the simplification of entrepreneurial processes. The municipality is also working to structure an Economic Development Company to support existing businesses and attract new industrial investments, leveraging its strategic location near major highways and railways.

In Rio Grande do Sul, the municipality of Cachoeirinha has emerged as a leader in various economic sectors between January and July 2026. According to the Municipal Secretariat of Economic Development, Labor, and Tourism, the city ranked first in the state for several activities, including temporary labor leasing, business management consultancy, and the manufacturing of vehicle batteries. Other leading sectors in the region include aluminum scrap recovery, special fabric manufacturing, and the retail of construction materials.
