Brazilian municipalities unveil new housing and economic development projects

Mayor Leandro Vilela of Aparecida de Goiânia announced that his administration will submit a series of legislative proposals to the city council this month. The measures include a plan to build 900 apartments under the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program in partnership with federal and state governments, a loan request from Caixa Econômica Federal to construct two early‑education centers and two municipal schools, and the creation of the "Programa Acelera Aparecida" to lease public land to attract private investment and generate jobs. Vilela also proposed changes to municipal tax incentives, the sale of public land to real‑estate investment funds, and the regulation of municipal attorney fees.

In Rio do Sul, Santa Catarina, the municipal government opened a bidding process to select a contractor for the construction of 40 new popular‑housing units in the Rainha neighbourhood. The project, funded by the Federal Housing Rental Fund (FAR) and potentially supplemented by up to 5% of the subsidised amount, is expected to cost up to R$6.32 million, with each unit valued at a maximum of R$158 000. The selected company will be responsible for design, budgeting, licensing and coordination with Caixa Econômica Federal before construction can begin.
