Brazilian municipalities upgrade traffic enforcement measures

Municipalities in Brazil are implementing new measures to enhance traffic safety and enforcement. In Parauapebas, the City Hall has acquired new Inmetro-approved portable breathalyzers to support the Municipal Department of Traffic and Transport (DMTT). The R$ 63,900.00 investment aims to prevent accidents caused by driving under the influence of alcohol and to provide better working tools for enforcement agents.

In Londrina, a new bidding process for electronic traffic surveillance has led to the relocation of speed cameras and monitoring equipment. The Municipal Company of Traffic and Urbanization (CMTU) is currently removing old devices to make way for new systems. While the total number of devices remains the same, technical studies will allow for the repositioning of equipment to locations deemed more critical for road safety and mobility. The transition process, including installation and testing, is expected to be completed within 60 days.
