Brazilian music festivals feature major artist reunions

Major Brazilian music festivals held significant celebrations this weekend, featuring reunions of legendary artists and milestone anniversaries.

In Fortaleza, the Samba Brasil festival celebrated its 20th anniversary at Marina Park. The event featured a diverse lineup including Fundo de Quintal, Thiaguinho, Sorriso Maroto, Mumuzinho, Ferrugem, and Dilsinho. The celebration was characterized by spontaneous collaborations between different generations of samba and pagode artists, such as members of Sorriso Maroto joining Fundo de Quintal on stage.

In Rio de Janeiro, the Doce Maravilha festival hosted a highly anticipated reunion between Paulinho da Viola and Maria Bethânia at the Jockey Club. The two artists performed several classics together, including ‘Falsa baiana’ and Caetano Veloso’s ‘Desde que o samba é samba’. The performance was attended by notable figures including Marisa Monte and the Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes.
