Brazilian music highlights include Grupo UM history and samba concert in São Paulo

The Brazilian music scene is highlighted by both historical reflections and contemporary performances. In São Paulo, the Nubank Parque hosted “O Maior Encontro do Samba” on October 31, featuring prominent artists Zeca Pagodinho, Alcione, and Jorge Aragão. The event, which included special guests Maria Rita and Diogo Nogueira, functioned as a joint celebration of the genre rather than individual sets.

In a separate cultural reflection, the history of Grupo UM is noted for its significance in the independent music movement. Founded in 1976 during the military dictatorship, the group was among the first in Brazil to record an independent album, “Marcha sobre a cidade,” in 1979. The group is recognized as a vital entity for Brazilian instrumental music during a period when cultural incentives were scarce and many musicians chose to emigrate.
