Brazilian music sees resurgence in classic albums and CD sales

The Brazilian music landscape is seeing a resurgence of interest in physical media and classic works. Significant Brazilian albums are approaching major anniversaries in 2026, marking 30, 40, and 50 years since their release. Notable among these is Marisa Monte’s 1996 project ‘Barulhinho Bom’, which blends live recordings from Recife and Rio de Janeiro with studio tracks recorded in Brazil and New York, featuring contributions from artists such as Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil.

Simultaneously, there is a notable increase in the sale of CDs, players, and discs among Generation Z. Despite the dominance of digital streaming, there is a growing demand for both new and old CD titles, as well as tabletop CD players. This trend highlights a renewed interest in digital audio PCM technology, even as high-resolution audio formats continue to evolve.
