Raul Seixas legacy honored 37 years after death
The Brazilian music community marks the 37th anniversary of the death of Raul Seixas, the influential rock singer known as ‘Maluco Beleza’. Seixas passed away on August 21, 1989, at the age of 44 due to a cardiac arrest associated with pancreatitis.
His musical legacy continues to influence generations through a unique blend of American rock, baião, and xaxado. Many of his most significant works were composed in partnership with writer Paulo Coelho. To honor his memory, the annual ‘Passeata do Raul Seixas’ is held in central São Paulo, gathering thousands of fans, motorcyclists, and enthusiasts to celebrate his enduring impact on Brazilian culture.
