Brazilian musicians Juliana Raimundo and Cylene Araújo highlight independent music scenes
Brazilian singer-songwriter Juliana Raimundo is gaining recognition for her work blending contemporary MPB with pop. Her EP ‘Beba-me’ features the track ‘Cana Doce’, which explores themes of love and self-knowledge. In addition to her solo career, she is a member of the duo Rascunho and is currently developing her first full-length solo album.
Meanwhile, folk music artist and researcher Cylene Araújo is entering a new career phase following her record-breaking 50-hour continuous forró singing performance. She recently released the single ‘Santo Antônio, Resolva Esse Caso’ and is preparing for international projects, including the release of her documentary ‘Corrente do Bem pelo Mundo’. Araújo also uses her music to advocate against violence toward women through songs such as ‘Não é Não’ and ‘X na Palma da Mão’.
