Brazilian national arrested for fatal strangulation in Massachusetts
Federal authorities have arrested Flavio Alcantara Dias, a 43-year-old Brazilian national, in connection with the fatal strangulation of a woman in her Massachusetts home. According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Dias is an illegal immigrant who entered the United States in April 2019.
The Department of Homeland Security stated that an immigration judge terminated Dias’s immigration hearings in October 2024 due to a technicality, which resulted in his release despite a criminal history that included arrests for DUI and aggravated assault.
Note: One portion of the reporting mentions a separate incident involving Salvadoran national Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos, who faces premeditated murder charges for the stabbing of Carmen Lizet Puch in Fairfax County, Virginia.
