Navy Lieutenant Beatriz Fickert Santoro found dead at USP military base
Beatriz Fickert Santoro, a 33-year-old mechanical engineer and Second Lieutenant in the Brazilian Navy, was found dead in her quarters at the Navy Technological Center located within the University of São Paulo (USP) campus on September 24.
The case is being treated as a suspicious death. While the Navy stated that Santoro was found unconscious and subsequently taken to the USP University Hospital, police reports indicate she arrived at the hospital already deceased. This discrepancy, along with the fact that a hospital doctor refused to issue a death certificate, has triggered a formal investigation.
Authorities are also investigating potential procedural fraud, as the body was reportedly removed from the military installation before forensic experts could examine the scene. Military police also reported being barred from accessing the site of the incident. Due to the event occurring on military grounds, the investigation will be conducted by the Federal Police and the Brazilian Navy.
