Brazilian non-profits announce expansions and legal victories

Several Brazilian non-profit organizations have announced significant expansions or legal milestones in their respective fields.

Amigos do Bem, an NGO focused on education in the Brazilian Northeast, announced plans to nearly double its reach from 10,000 to 19,000 children. This includes the construction of a new R$ 35 million educational center in Buíque, Pernambuco, designed to serve 2,000 students.

In Niterói, the Brazilian Association for Access to Medicinal Cannabis (AbraRio) obtained a definitive judicial decision from the TRF2. This ruling authorizes the association to cultivate, research, and distribute cannabis-based products exclusively for its members, who use them for medical purposes under prescription.

Additionally, the Pro Criança Cardíaca institution in Rio de Janeiro is launching a new initiative focused on early childhood. After 30 years of service and over 16,000 patients treated, the project will expand to provide multidisciplinary care—including nutrition and psychology—to children aged zero to six with heart conditions.
