Brazilian oil workers and Portuguese teachers protest government negotiation tactics

In Brazil, the Sindipetro-RJ union and the Federation of Public Employees (FNP) have called a series of assemblies and a national mobilization plan to oppose Petrobras' proposals on a new salary and career plan, offshore implantations, and telework. They demand minimum standards and a genuine negotiation framework, rejecting what they describe as a legal maneuver that undermines collective bargaining.

In Portugal, the National Federation of Teachers (Fenprof) accused the government of distorting the collective‑bargaining process by convening a joint meeting with all unions and approving a new teacher recruitment model before negotiations were concluded. Fenprof warned it would pursue legal action, including appeals to the Attorney General and the President, to protect the right to genuine collective bargaining.
