Brazilian olive oils receive major international awards

Olive oil producers from the Serra da Mantiqueira region in Brazil have received significant international recognition in prestigious global competitions.

At the Olio Nuovo Days Southern Hemisphere 2026 in France, Vinícola Essenza’s Mantikir Coratina was named the best Brazilian olive oil, ranking second among the top ten in the Southern Hemisphere. The company’s Mantikir Grappolo also earned a Premium Gold medal. The production takes place at high altitudes between 1,700 and 1,900 meters.

Additionally, Fazenda Sabiá, located in Santo Antônio do Pinhal, was honored by the Italy-based Flos Olei 2026 guide. The farm won in the “The Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Extraction System” category and was recognized for the best extra virgin olive oil in the Picual variety. Producer João Roberto “Bob” Vieira da Costa noted that the recognition highlights the importance of careful field management and rapid processing after harvest.
