Brazilian orchestras announce upcoming musical performances

Several musical performances are scheduled in Brazil. The Orquestra Sinfônica Jovem de Indaiatuba will present the “Oriente e Ocidente” concert on September 12 at 8:00 p.m. in Indaiatuba. Directed by maestro Anderson Vargas, the free event features works by Russian, French, Chinese, and Brazilian composers. Special guest musicians Nelson Lin and Alfredo Rezende will perform on the traditional Chinese instruments yangqin and erhu.

Additionally, the Orquestra Jovem Sesc Brasil will perform a commemorative concert on September 13 at the Sesc Quitandinha Cultural Center in Petrópolis to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Sesc. Under the direction of maestro Geovane Marquetti, the orchestra—composed of 59 musicians from 11 Brazilian states—will perform a repertoire including the specially composed “Trama das Águas Dançantes,” as well as works by Pérez Prado, Alceu Valença, and Ennio Morricone.
