Brazilian organizations explore funding through tax incentives and social funds
Non-profit organizations in Brazil are utilizing various mechanisms to secure funding for social, cultural, and sporting initiatives.
Tax incentive laws allow individuals and companies to direct a portion of their taxes toward authorized public interest projects, a process known as tax renunciation. For instance, under the Lei Rouanet, contributors can support cultural projects authorized by the Ministry of Culture and apply these amounts toward their income tax obligations. Success in this area requires institutional preparation and the ability to build relationships with potential investors.
In a separate initiative, the cooperative Sicredi Pioneira is hosting preparatory workshops to assist non-profit entities in developing proposals for the 2027 Social Fund. These online workshops aim to help organizations structure projects in education, culture, and inclusive sports. The Social Fund is financed by the cooperative's results, with at least 1% of the value generated in 2026 slated for distribution to community-driven initiatives.
