Brazilian performing arts see return of solo theater and dance shows

Several theatrical and dance performances are returning to Brazilian stages. In Manaus, actress Carol Santa Ana will perform the solo show ‘A Mulher que Desaprendeu a Dançar’ at Teatro ICBEU as part of the Sou Manaus Passo a Paço 2026 festival. The production, which uses dance as a metaphor for identity and memory, marks a professional return for the artist following her second maternity.

In Minas Gerais, dancer and choreographer Rosa Antuña will present ‘A dança da Mulher-Árvore’ at Sala João Ceschiatti in the Palácio das Artes. The production was made possible through a venue occupation grant and the ZAZ project from the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais, following a period where the artist faced difficulties securing funding for original projects.
