Brazilian players win opening matches at Hamburg Challenger
Brazilian tennis players Matheus Pucinelli and Eduardo Ribeiro secured opening victories at the Hamburg Challenger in Germany.
Matheus Pucinelli defeated German player Florian Broska in a three-set match lasting 2 hours and 35 minutes. Pucinelli won with scores of 7/6(1), 3/6, and 7/5. He is scheduled to face Max Schoenhaus in the second round.
Eduardo Ribeiro upset the second seed, Spaniard Max Alcalá, winning in straight sets 6/4, 6/4. Ribeiro, currently ranked 372nd, will face either Mika Petkovic or Niels McDonald in the round of 16. Ribeiro is also competing in the doubles tournament alongside partner Brandon Perez.
