Brazilian poets Ademir Assunção, Nilson and Ricardo Gil Soeiro featured in new literary interviews

Poet Ademir Assunção, who recently turned 65, was interviewed by journalist Ricardo Aleixo. The conversation reflected on Assunção’s lifelong commitment to poetry, his belief that “poetry is a vital need,” and the release of his latest book, marking more than six decades of literary activity.

A separate feature highlighted two contemporary Brazilian poets, Nilson and Ricardo Gil Soeiro. Their recent collections – Nilson’s *Pequeno caderno maranhense* and Gil Soeiro’s *Lições de miragem* – were praised for inventive metaphor, dense language, and themes such as Afro‑indigenous identity in Maranhão, marginalisation, and the passage of time. Both writers are presented as notable voices shaping modern Brazilian poetry.
