Brazil police crack down on drug trafficking and violent crimes in multiple states

Authorities across Brazil arrested dozens of suspects and seized large quantities of illicit drugs, weapons and stolen goods during a series of operations in July 2026.

In Canoas, a man previously sentenced to 15 years for repeatedly raping his minor cousin was re‑apprehended. Domestic‑violence arrests were reported in Aricanduva (São Paulo), Cruzeiro do Sul (Acre) and other municipalities.

Drug‑trafficking busts included the seizure of about 7.8 kg of cocaine hidden in a vehicle on the BR‑381 in Bela Vista de Minas and the confiscation of 81 kg of cocaine, crack and base paste worth roughly R$ 2.1 million in Euclides da Cunha, Bahia. Police in Camamu, Bahia recovered stolen food products and several kilograms of marijuana, cocaine and other narcotics. Additional seizures occurred in Pernambuco (Araripina, São Bento do Una), Paraná (Itaguajé), Minas Gerais (Patos de Minas) and other locations, often involving firearms, ammunition and precision balances used for drug‑packing.

Investigations also uncovered a cyber‑fraud scheme in which a suspect accessed a Gov.br account to obtain credit‑card data, causing estimated losses of R$ 50 000, and a weapons‑possession case in Palma Sola. The operations highlight coordinated efforts by state police, the Federal Highway Police and the Civil Police to combat organized crime and protect public safety.
