Brazilian police arrest suspects in child grooming and intimidation cases
In Macedônia, São Paulo, two men were arrested following an investigation into the virtual grooming of a child and subsequent death threats against the victim's family. The Civil Police reported that one suspect, residing in Toledo, Paraná, initiated contact with the child via social media, eventually sending intimate images and requesting similar content from the minor.
Following the initial report, the victim's mother received intimidation messages and death threats, including notes left on her vehicle. Investigators found that the suspects were monitoring the family's daily routine, including school schedules and travel routes. Arrest warrants and search orders were executed in both São Paulo and Paraná, resulting in the seizure of mobile phones and various investigative materials.
In a separate incident in Arapiraca, Alagoas, a man has been indicted for attempting to coerce a 13-year-old girl into changing her testimony regarding alleged sexual abuse by her stepfather. The victim recorded the interaction, in which the suspect reportedly asked her to alter her statements as an ‘birthday present’ for him. This recording led to a new investigation into coercion during legal proceedings.
