Brazilian police arrest suspects in separate fraud investigations

Police in Brazil have arrested individuals involved in two distinct fraud schemes. In Blumenau, Santa Catarina, the owner of the Mobi Center store was preventively detained on suspicion of defrauding customers involving electric scooters. Investigators have identified 11 victims across multiple municipalities, with estimated losses exceeding R$ 100,000. The suspect allegedly accepted vehicles for maintenance or sale but failed to return them or remit negotiation funds, often citing mechanical issues to delay delivery.

In a separate operation, authorities arrested a man in Timon, Maranhão, suspected of causing R$ 30,000 in losses to a motorcycle dealership in Teresina, Piauí. The suspect, a former credit card sector representative, allegedly diverted sales funds into a bank account belonging to his stepfather. A second individual was also arrested in Teresina in connection with the case. The court has authorized searches, seizures, and the freezing of bank accounts to facilitate potential reimbursement to the victimized company.
