Brazilian Police Boost Operations: Environmental Enforcement in São Paulo and Force Expansion in Pará

In early July, the environmental units of São Paulo's Military Police conducted a series of actions across the interior of the state. Operations on July 6‑8 targeted illegal wildlife captivity, drug trafficking and animal welfare violations. Officers seized 87 portions of cocaine, 40 portions of crack and a bulk package of crack, and rescued five native birds held in poor conditions, issuing fines totalling R$ 49,000. Additional searches for a presumed road‑kill jaguar on SP‑373 involved veterinary and academic experts, though the animal was not located.

Meanwhile, on July 9 the Military Police held a large-scale gathering in Marabá, Pará, to present strategic results and new investments. Colonel Neves highlighted the deployment of 4 million reais to fund a summer‑operation that dispatched police to 53 tourist cities and added 40 new officers and 20 vehicles to the municipal force. He also announced that around 4,000 new officers are in training for future deployment throughout the state, underscoring a continued focus on public safety and community integration.
