Brazilian police launch dual operations in Bahia targeting traffic safety and drug crime
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) will deploy drones for the first time during the São João 2026 operation in Bahia, monitoring high‑traffic sections of BR‑324 and other federal highways to identify violations such as cellphone use, lack of seat belts, and unsafe lane changes.
Separately, the Bahia State Civil Police carried out Operation Horizonte Vigiado in Porto Seguro, executing ten search warrants and arresting two suspects tied to a local drug‑ trafficking faction and alleged involvement in recent homicides. The arrests include a man caught with packaged cocaine and a young man charged with vehicle‑identification tampering.
