Brazilian police seize weapons and drugs in Bom Jesus towns

Police forces in Minas Gerais carried out a large‑scale operation on 12 June in the district of Revés do Belém, Bom Jesus do Galho. Five people were arrested and a cache of firearms – including a .38 Smith & Wesson revolver, a .32 shotgun and a pistol replica – as well as ammunition, a precision balance, large quantities of cocaine, crack and marijuana, and cash were seized. Lieutenant Edenilson, commander of the local PM platoon, said the action “represents an important result in the fight against drug trafficking and violent crime in the district, removing drugs, firearms and individuals directly linked to criminal activity.”

In a separate raid in the municipality of Bom Jesus, Rio Grande do Norte, the 11th Battalion’s tactical team intercepted a 9 mm submachine gun, a .38 revolver, assorted ammunition, a precision balance and drug residues after three suspects attempted to flee during a patrol in the Eco Verde neighbourhood. All three men were detained, received medical care for minor injuries and were handed over to the Parnamirim police station.

Both operations underline ongoing police efforts to dismantle drug‑trafficking networks and curb the circulation of illegal firearms in Brazil.
