Brazilian political candidates focus on regional health and environmental issues

Political candidates in Brazil are engaging in regional campaigning focused on specific local issues. In Embu das Artes, Senate candidate Simone Tebet (PSB) proposed the regionalization of healthcare to decentralize medical services toward the metropolitan periphery. In Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Gisela Simona, running for vice-governor on Otaviano Pivetta’s ticket, participated in a symbolic event with Councilwoman Dra. Mara. The pair planted a Pink Ipê tree in the Porto neighborhood to mark Arbor Day, an act intended to unify environmental sustainability agendas with the promotion of female leadership in the state.
