Brazilian political candidates outline platforms and endorsements

In Brazil, political candidates and local leaders are organizing their platforms and endorsements for upcoming elections.

Aparecido Andrade Portela, known as Tenente Portela (PL), has outlined his priorities for a potential term in the Chamber of Deputies. Supported by former President Jair Bolsonaro and Mato Grosso do Sul Governor Eduardo Riedel, Portela is focusing on border security to combat drug and arms trafficking, strengthening the agribusiness sector through legal certainty, and promoting economic development via the Bioceanic Route. He also pledged to ensure transparency in the allocation of parliamentary amendments across all 79 municipalities in Mato Grosso do Sul.

In Porto Seguro, Mayor Jânio Natal (PL) has announced he will split his local support among four candidates for federal deputy: Jonga Bacelar (PL), Roberta Roma (PL), Neto Carletto (PP), and Arthur Maia (União). Additionally, the mayor is supporting his son, Jânio Júnior (PL), in a bid for state deputy.
