Roberto Cidade faces candidacy revocation request in Amazonas
The Electoral Public Ministry (MPE) has requested the revocation of Governor Roberto Cidade's candidacy for re-election in Amazonas. The request, submitted to the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-AM), alleges that Cidade engaged in prohibited electoral conduct by using social programs for political promotion.
Prosecutors claim that Cidade participated in events where government-funded benefits—including glasses, aid cards, and tools—were distributed, and that these actions were used to promote his image on social media. The MPE argues this violates the principle of impersonality and the law prohibiting the promotional use of social services during elections.
Separately, several developments are occurring in the state. The 'Luz para Todos' electricity program has resumed in Amazonas, with Âmbar Energia investing R$ 785.9 million to provide 18,775 new connections, aiming to benefit 94,000 people in rural and remote areas.
