Brazilian political hopefuls Evani Reis and Kaline launch campaigns ahead of 2026 elections

Union leader Evani Reis, president of the Sindicato dos Trabalhadores em Empresas de Asseio, Conservação, Limpeza Pública e Serviços Similares (Sindilimpe) in Espírito Santo, was selected as the substitute candidate on Fabiano Contarato's (PT) Senate ticket for the 2026 election. Reis, a 46‑year‑old municipal cleaner from Vila Velha, has a long history of labor activism and holds a position in the national workers' confederation. Her inclusion is framed as bringing a working‑class perspective to the Senate race.

In Rio Grande do Norte, Dra. Kaline, a candidate for state deputy with the Green Party (PV), reinforced her ties to the city of Caicó during the Festa de Sant’Ana. With family roots in the Seridó region, she pledged to prioritize Caicó for health, development and infrastructure investments if elected to the state legislature. Both candidacies are part of the broader buildup to Brazil's 2026 general elections.
