Brazilian political leaders emphasize democratic participation during elections

During the second round of presidential elections, various political figures in Brazil highlighted the importance of popular participation and the democratic process.

In Santo André, Mayor Gilvan Ferreira (Cidadania) emphasized that voting is a fundamental right and a tool for citizens to influence the country's future. His administration has also been noted for maintaining an institutional dialogue with the City Council, seeking to prioritize urban development over political-ideological divergences.

In Santo Antônio de Jesus, the president of the Democratic Labour Party (PDT), André Luiz, declared support for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Alongside former federal deputy candidate Conceição Gonzalez, Luiz underscored the importance of defending national sovereignty and social policies, noting that party militants would engage in street mobilizations to encourage voter turnout.
