Brazilian political meetings highlight municipal needs and business reforms

In Minas Gerais, PT Senate pre‑candidate María Campos visited Governador Valadares on 7 May, meeting mayors from the Vale do Rio Doce region. The gathering, organized by the Intermunicipal Health Consortium, focused on challenges faced by small municipalities such as limited access to federal programs, reliance on the Municipal Participation Fund and the need for stronger municipal representation in the Senate.

Also in Brasília, the president of Fecomércio‑MT, Sebastião Gonçalves, attended the launch of the “Agenda dos Presidenciáveis 2026,” a document that presents proposals from the tertiary sector to presidential hopefuls Romeu Zema and Ronaldo Caiado. Participants highlighted the “Custo Brasil” – a fiscal and regulatory burden estimated at about 20 % of GDP – and called for reforms to reduce administrative costs, improve infrastructure and restore investor confidence.
