Brazilian politicians face campaign debt and intimidation allegations
In Nova Monte Verde, campaign workers for Federal Deputy Emanuelzinho (PSD) are claiming they have not been paid for services rendered during the recent elections. Local councilwoman Vera Lúcia do Nascimento, who mediated the hiring process, has been directly targeted by these claims via social media. According to the councilwoman, Emanuelzinho’s staff confirmed that payments will be made, though no specific date or total amount has been established.
In São Sebastião, Councilwoman Maria Ângela has addressed allegations of political betrayal following the release of an audio recording. The recording allegedly captures former Mayor Felipe Augusto intimidating the councilwoman during discussions regarding the audit of his 2022 administration accounts. Maria Ângela stated that the recording was made by a bystander and that she has since documented the conversation in a notary deed to protect herself against political attacks.
