Brazilian politicians focus on federal funding and amendments

Brazilian politicians from the União Brasil party are focusing on different aspects of legislative resource management during their campaigns.

Federal Deputy Geraldo Mendes has intensified his street campaign, particularly in São José dos Pinhais. He highlighted his role in securing R$ 154 million in federal funds for the construction of a new hospital and maternity ward in the municipality, a project that is currently over 50% complete.

Meanwhile, Senate candidate Mauro Mendes has stated that he will not campaign for an increase in the amount of parliamentary amendments. Instead, he pledged to focus on the correct application of these funds and promised to publicly disclose the destination of any resources under his responsibility. He criticized the current annual volume of R$ 50 billion in amendments, arguing that the practice often lacks effective results and can distort the legislative role of parliamentarians.
